Aquila Grand Prix: Stanguellini was there!

The City of Aquila is back in the auto racing scene with Aquila Grand Prix, a genuine Motor Show with race cars from every era and category organised by the city and held in early July.

The cars drove non-competitively around the city’s historic centre all day before the eyes of motorsport fans and those with a nostalgia for the past. The Grand Prix brought the famous Collemaggio Circuit that wound its way around the Cathedral of Santa Maria di Collemaggio on the hill by the same name back in the spotlight, after 60 years in the shade.

For the event, Stanguellini displayed 5 classics from its museum in front of the city’s Palazzo dell’Emiciclo. Francesca Stanguellini then took part in the race behind the wheel of a Stanguellini Barchetta 750 Bialbero Sport.

A passion for motorsports

“I’m glad we took part in the Aquila Grand Prix in the name of the esteem and trust I personally hold for Davide Cironi, the organiser of the event”, said Francesca Stanguellini, who added: “Most of all, I’m glad we got to experience the big enthusiasm for the event shown by motorsport fans and regular folks alike, kicking off an important new chapter for the City of Aquila in the auto world”.

At 9 in the morning, the cars paraded down Viale Crispi before a mesmerised crowd of admirers excited to see the love for the sport and history animate the city’s historic centre once again.

Let the race begin! Until 6 p.m., 18 rally cars, touring cars, formula racing cars and supercars took their turn on the Collemaggio Circuit—reopened for the event—accompanied by the commentary of Engineer Giancarlo Bruno (famous Formula 1 commentator and seasoned track engineer to Gabriele Tarquini at several international races) and broadcast on the large screen installed in front of the city’s Villa Comunale. A stage was also set up at the location for the presentation of the history and technical details of participating cars.

The Aquila Grand Prix was the first step of a new and glorious future in the auto sector for the capital city of the Abruzzo region and we are happy to have been part of it.
